Just off the hustle of Khao San Road you will find much quieter and more relaxed places to have a few thai street drinks. On Soi Damnoen Klang Nuea which is just across from Khaosan you will find a number of chilled out bars to choose from. The one in the picture was one of my favorites  as its quite different and there was a great noodle place next door.
